Well… it seems like summer is lasting forever in a lot of places.
And somehow, while summer seems to be moving slowly, the years seem to be moving faster.
One thing I have noticed as I get older is how much of life becomes about maintenance.
The bedtime routine.
The stretching routine.
The medication routine.
Getting errands done.
Staying active.
Trying to eat better.
Trying to remember everything you are supposed to be doing to keep yourself healthy.
Some days it feels like maintaining yourself could be a full-time job.
But I am also realizing something else:
Anything that makes those routines easier is worth paying attention to.
And prevention has become more important to me than ever.
Staying Ahead of the Problem
When I was younger, I probably did not think nearly as much about prevention.
Now?
I think about it all the time.
Keeping up with medications.
Stretching before something starts hurting.
Staying active.
Getting outside.
Protecting my skin.
It is less about waiting for something to become a problem and more about asking:
What can I do today that might help me tomorrow?
That mindset is one of the reasons sun protection has become such an easy part of my routine.
Even though the calendar says fall, that does not mean UV exposure simply disappears.
If I am driving, walking, riding my bike, golfing, or spending time outside, grabbing a pair of sun sleeves on my way out the door is one of the easiest things I can do.
Easy on.
Easy off.
No complicated routine.
Just grab them and go.
Different Sleeves for Different Days
Some days I want pockets.
I love having a place for little essentials like my keys, cards, or hand sanitizer when I am walking, golfing, or spending time outside. That is when I reach for my Clouds sleeves WITH pockets.
Other days, I want something very simple.
That is when I reach for my Clouds sleeves without pockets.
I keep them handy for things like driving, walking into the store, or those everyday moments when I know my arms are going to be exposed but I do not need anything complicated.
That is really what I want ZUN RAYS to be about.
Not adding another chore to your day.
Making one part of taking care of yourself a little easier.
Maybe Healthy Aging Is Really About the Little Things
Getting older has taught me that staying healthy is not usually one giant decision.
It is hundreds of small ones.
Take the medication.
Do the stretch.
Go for the walk.
Ride the bike.
Play the round of golf.
Protect your skin.
Keep moving.
And find ways to make those habits simple enough that you actually keep doing them.
I am still figuring all of this out myself.
But I am becoming a big believer in staying ahead of the problems whenever I can.
For me, that combination is pretty simple:
Take care of yourself. Stay active. Protect what you can. And keep doing the things you love.
Be Your You.
